INDIAN STAR TORTOISES (Geochelone elegans)
My Indian Stars have bred for me again for the seventh year running and my genuine UK captive-bred babies are available now. Price is £275 each or £500 for two. Please e-mail me for full details - remember these are genuine UK-bred by myself and were hatched in November/December 2007.
I can currently supply youngsters from four different females.
Because they have done so well for their new owners I am now guaranteeing all my baby Stars for a full 3 month period after purchase.
I hope this will encourage more first time tortoise owners to consider one of my baby Stars.
Please note that if you buy a single Star from me and decide to buy a second one within 3 months I will charge you just £225 for the second one making a total of £500 for the two as above.
This arrangement gives you a chance to find out for yourself just how straightforward my baby Stars are to care for (despite their relative rarity).
As they are one of the more expensive species it also gives you the chance to assess whether £500 for two genuine captive-bred baby Stars is money well spent - I have quite a number of proud owners who think it is.
Brand new fully-equipped open-topped tortoise terrarium setup (complete with full-spectrum 12% UVB striplight) suitable for the above youngsters up to around 18 months old £110

I have bred my Stars annually since 2002 and I am the UK's top breeder of these beautiful tortoises.
All my babies have done very well for their new owners some of who have never kept a tortoise before.
Supplied with a comprehensive care-sheet written from my nearly six years experience with this wonderful tortoise and ongoing advice if required.
Virtually all the books that cover the Indian Star Tortoise are well out of date - my youngsters do very well in captivity and really aren't particularly difficult to keep(!!) provided you obtain genuine captive-bred animals. I am the only person that I know of currently breeding Indian Stars every year here in the UK - buyers should beware of foreign imports which may (or may not!) have been captive-bred which are often subject to chilling and viral and bacterial cross-infections during shipping, invariably carry heavy intestinal worm infestations and can develop subsequent health problems such as RNS and the inevitably fatal chelonian herpes.
Indian Stars are realistically the only tropical tortoise suited to indoor accomodation as adults because they are considerably smaller than Leopard or Sulcata tortoises so my genuine captive-bred youngsters are well worth considering even if you haven't kept tortoises before. E-mail
